FAQs

What are your rates and do you accept insurance?

Self-pay rates are $210/hour. I accept insurance and am currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Health Care, ProviDRs Care, Medicaid, and Medicare.

For clients who are out-of-network, you can check with your insurance company to determine if you have out-of-network benefits for mental health. If so, I can provide you with all necessary documentation for your insurance company to reimburse your costs.

What are therapy sessions like?

Our first session will largely focus on reviewing your history and understanding your goals for therapy. It’s also an important opportunity for us to make sure we’ll be a good fit working together. I’ll ask questions pertaining to your presenting concerns, as well as review your functioning and history in other areas (e.g., relationships, health, education, employment, etc.). This ensures that I have a comprehensive understanding of both your needs and strengths before we get started.

Subsequent sessions are typically less formal. I usually start off by asking clients about their week or following up on where we left off the session before. I try to tailor the therapy experience to my client’s specific preferences — some clients prefer a more guided and hands on approach, while others may want the opposite. We’ll work together to figure out the best approach for you.

How long are sessions and how often will we meet?

Sessions are generally 53-60 minutes long.

I meet with most of my clients once a week or once every other week. Once a client has made good progress in therapy, but is not quite ready to “graduate,” we may decide to meet even less frequently.

How long until I feel better?

Therapy is a highly personalized experience. The length of treatment will depend on a variety of factors related to your specific history and goals. With that said, I want you to experience relief from your problems as quickly as possible. During our first session, we will work together to develop a plan specific to your unique history and needs. Throughout our work together, we’ll continue to check-in and make sure we’re on the right track, making adjustments as needed.

How do online therapy sessions work?

Clients will join online therapy sessions through the client portal.

Online therapy sessions are typically conducted via video, but can occasionally be done over the phone depending on the circumstance.

Online therapy sessions operate much like an in-person session. You’ll log in, we will address any administrative items (e.g., paperwork, account balance, etc.), and then begin our session. We’ll end with scheduling your next appointment.

Important: Clients choosing to do online therapy should be aware of licensing regulations which restrict me to only providing therapy to clients who are located in Kansas at the time of session. Please contact me directly with any questions or concerns about this requirement.
